About CAPAV
CAPAV was formed in response to the need for Victoria to have a non-aligned, general, Counsellors and Psychotherapists professional body that could promote their goals and represent their interests. CAPAV provides a professional association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Victoria and is dedicated to supporting their professional development and welfare.
CAPAV is also committed to promoting the Counselling and Psychotherapy profession in the wider community.
The Counsellors' and Psychotherapists' Association of Victoria Incorporated (CAPAV) was formed in May 2002 in response to the need in Victoria to have a non-aligned, general counsellors’ and psychotherapists’ professional body.
CAPAV’s purpose is to:
· establish and promote ethical standards amongst counsellors and psychotherapists through a formal Code of Ethics
· actively work with Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) as a member association, to further enhance and develop the counselling and psychotherapy profession as a recognised and professional body to its public
· provide members with access to cost effective professional development programs and supplement this with information forums specific to special interest areas
· provide members with access to PACFA accredited supervisors as part of membership requirements
· promote professional counselling and psychotherapy to the public by targeted distribution of the CAPAV brochure
· improve the quality of counselling and psychotherapy available to the wider community by evaluating all members annually to ensure that they continue to meet PACFA standards
· represent our members with a common voice that will promote their goals as professionals, and represent these interests across all audiences
CAPAV is a professional association for counsellors and psychotherapists in Victoria and is dedicated to supporting their professional development and welfare.
CAPAV is also committed to promoting the counselling and psychotherapy profession in the wider community.
CAPAV works proactively with PACFA to ensure that members’ professional interests are recognised, maintained and delivered.
CAPAV delivers to its members:
· professional recognition through CAPAV’s membership of PACFA
· a register of Clinical Members on the CAPAV website accessible to the general public
· membership categories that are structured to allow maximum recognition of individual counsellors' and psychotherapists’ qualifications and experiences
· notification of professional development and special interest programs
· a subscription to a national peer reviewed journal, Psychotherapy in Australia
