Counsellors And Psychotherapists Association of NSW Inc
The Counsellors And Psychotherapists Association of New South Wales Inc (CAPA NSW) was known as the New South Wales Counsellors Association from its inception in 1972. It became CAPA NSW in 1997 and was incorporated in 1999. Its current membership stands at five hundred. This is increasing at the rate of about ten per month. CAPA members comprise counsellors and psychotherapists from a wide variety of backgrounds practising in many different modalities.
They work with a similarly broad range of issues including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationships, conflict, stress, career change, addictions, trauma, suicide, violence, and anger. CAPA provides four annual professional development evenings for its members. Recent topics have included supervision, setting up a private practice, Carers’ issues and suicide.
CAPA members are united by their commitment to high standards of practice, a rigorous code of ethics and their belief in the importance of the profession in the challenging world of the twenty-first century.
