Association of Transpersonal and Emotional Release Counsellors

The Emotional Release Counsellors Association of NSW Inc was formed in 1993 and incorporated in April 1995. The ERC Association promotes quality of service to clients through ongoing support of practitioners.

Primary functions of the Association are

  • To set and maintain training and supervision standards.
  • To provide ongoing professional and personal development opportunities to members.
  • To actively promote emotional release counselling in the wider community.
  • To disseminate information amongst members and the community.
  • To oversee ethical guidelines and professional practice.
  • To provide practitioner networking.
  • To support new graduates in their practice and supervision requirements through a mentoring program.
  • Membership is at Full, Associate and Friend levels.

Full membership requires an ERC practitioner to have completed a 1200 hour diploma training program over three years, with 50 hours of supervised clinical practice.

Training in ERC covers:

  • The theory and practice of ERC modalities,
  • Personal use of these modalities by the trainee practitioners for their own inner healing journey,
  • Exploring maps of consciousness development,
  • Ethics and client relationships.

The Philosophy of ERC includes:

  • an experiential and personal journey approach to counselling, a holistic perspective that can address personal, relational, communal and global issues,
  • incorporate mind, body and spiritual dimensions of a client's issues, honour both biographical and transpersonal levels, include conscious and unconscious dynamics in presenting life issues.

The modalities include:

  • bodywork (Lowev, Reich), dance and movement,
  • Meditations,
  • Expressive and integrative artwork, journalling, dreamwork, symbolwork, sandplay (Jung, Kaff), breathwork (Grof) process work (Pierrakos), voice dialogue (Stone).

Emotional Release Counselling, adapted to both adults and children, addresses relationship, grief and loss, addictions, the legacy of abuse, trauma, life direction and meaning, personal spirituatlity, adjustment to life changes.

Practitioners are in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW, Queensland and NT.
